Oceanography Specialist II
Basic functions and responsibilities will be under the
supervision of the Team leader of the Coastal Oceanography
platform of the Integrated Coastal Caribbean Ecosystems
(ICCE) research program at UVI. Skill set: computer capability
on a technical level including hardware and software,
electronics skills as appropriate for marine measuring
instruments, boat skills, physically capable of going to sea.
Basic chemistry wet lab skills. Duties: Maintenance of
CMES/CarICOOS electronic instruments, purchasing of
equipment and supplies. Manage deployment and recovery of
marine instruments such as ADCPs, AWAC, marine buoys,
thermistors, etc. In charge of logistics for ocean going
expeditions. Able to work with and assist researchers with
preparations for experiments, instrument deployments, data
recovery and data sharing. Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in
an appropriate area (science and/or technology), and
extensive relevant experience in an appropriate field:
minimum experience of 5 years. Masters Degree in an
appropriate area of science and/or and extensive relevant
experience in an appropriate field, minimum experience of 2
