Postdoctoral Researcher in Marine Microbial Ecology and Genomics
The University of California, Santa Cruz, is seeking postdoctoral researchers to work with Dr. Jonathan Zehr, professor of Ocean Sciences. The researcher will work on nitrogen cycling in aquatic systems. Research may involve development and application of molecular and genomic techniques and physiological experimentation to examine the distribution and activity of microorganisms involved in nitrogen transformations (nitrogen fixation and nitrogen assimilation) in open ocean and coastal environments.
RANK: Postdoctoral Researcher
SALARY: $38,952 to $41,496, depending on qualifications and experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: PhD or equivalent in marine sciences or microbial ecology required. Prior experience in molecular techniques, particularly genomic or bioinformatics experience, is preferred.
TERM OF APPOINTMENT: 18 months, full-time, with renewal contingent on positive performance evaluation and availability of funding.
