Postdoctoral Researcher in Marine Ecology
The Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) seeks applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join an NSF-sponsored collaborative international research project exploring the role of biodiversity and complex forcing in the functioning of eelgrass ecosystems. The candidate will take a lead role in coordinating experimental research among a network of 12 or more international partners, and will work closely with team leader Emmett Duffy at VIMS (http://www.vims.edu/research/units/labgroups/marine_biodiversity/)
The candidate must have a Ph.D. in biology, marine science, or other appropriate field, experience in experimental marine ecology, and strong evidence of research achievement and promise. Because the project involves a collaborative partnership, strong organizational, communication, and people skills are essential. Other advantages include strong quantitative skills and knowledge of marine invertebrate taxonomy.
Applications should include (1) a current Curriculum Vitae, (2) a 1-page summary of experience and interests, and (3) names and full contact information (mailing and email addresses) of three references. Please submit applications electronically as PDF or Word documents at https://jobs.wm.edu (click on “Search Postings”, then “Job Title > Postdoctoral Research Associate”).
The position is available for up to two years, contingent on satisfactory progress. Start date is flexible but 1 October 2010 is preferred. Review of applications will begin on 1 September 2010 and will continue until the position is filled. For more information, please contact Emmett Duffy (jeduffy@vims.edu).
The College of William and Mary is an EO/AA employer.
