Position Announcements
Professor in Theoretical Marine Ecology
Applications are invited for a position as professor in Theoretical Marine Ecology. The professorship is affiliated with the National Institute of Aquatic Resources (DTU Aqua), Section for Population Ecology and -Genetics, Charlottenlund. The position is intended for a candidate with a strong track record in internationally acknowledged research, with significant experience in acquiring and execution of externally financed research programs, with significant experience in teaching and supervision of students, and a strong profile within modelling population and ecosystem dynamics.
Responsibilities and tasks
The successful candidate is expected to ambitiously contribute to shaping and directing the research area as appropriate for a technical university.
The professor’s research field is directed towards describing the reaction of marine ecosystem to external perturbations, e.g. from climate change and fishery. The professorship focuses on the development of models describing the dynamics of marine ecosystems covering species interactions and evolutionary effects. The research is taking place on the interface between fisheries science, biological oceanography, and theoretical (evolutionary) ecology.
A second focus will be on application, implementation and coordination of externally funded projects facilitating the practical implementation of results from fundamental theoretical ecology with relevance for marine ecosystems. This includes the development of practical tools for marine and fisheries management, e.g. tools to calculate expected impact of management decisions.
Finally, the professor is expected to take a lead position in teaching in mathematical and theoretical aspects of marine biology at the bachelor-, master- and PhD levels, and to supervise PhD students and post docs.
Qualifications
Candidates should have well-documented international recognition within their research field.
