Canada Excellence Research Chair in Ocean Science and Technology
Canada is a global leader in university research thanks to initiatives like the Canada
Foundation for Innovation and the Canada Research Chairs program. The 20 new $10
million Canada Excellence Research Chairs (www.cerc.gc.ca) will strengthen that
position.
Dalhousie University in Halifax has a sustained an outstanding record of research
excellence, and has been invited to submit two nominations among the 40 remaining in the final phase of the CERC selection process.
Dalhousie invites applications, nominations and expressions of interest in: The Canada Excellence Research Chair in Ocean Science and Technology.
The University is looking for candidates with exceptional records of scientific achievement, leadership and internationally-renowned research programs. The CERC in Ocean Science and Technology would assume a senior leadership role in the growth of ocean science and technology at Dalhousie University in support of existing strengths in oceans research. Areas of growth include fundamental and applied research leading to better ways of observing and understanding ocean variability, and the application of the research to high priority needs such as quantifying environmental risks of climate change, effective management of marine resources, protection of endangered species, and strengthening maritime national security. Dalhousie has a long and successful history of collaboration with neighboring government institutions and private sector companies
focused on ocean science and technology.
