Postdoc in Aquatic Ecosystem Modeling
A postdoctoral position is available at the University of Michigan’s School of Natural Resources and Environment. This position is for an ecosystem modeler to develop and test simulation and forecasting models of the effects of nutrient loads and climate on estuarine, coastal marine, and Great Lakes ecosystems. The primary focus is on the analysis and prediction of eutrophication symptoms with an emphasis on hypoxia development. Current specific geographic focus areas include the northern Gulf of Mexico, the Chesapeake Bay, Long Island Sound, and the central basin of Lake Erie. We are also developing more general screening models for estuarine systems, in general. Most of our efforts are now done within Bayesian contexts so the applicant should show experience in this area, or at least demonstrated training and experience to move quickly in that direction. Salary is $40,000 - $45,000 per year, plus a generous benefits package. This is a 24 month position expected to begin as soon as possible.
