| DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES AND BACKGROUND |

I have been working in National Institute of Oceanography as a doctoral student for last six years on benthic biogeochemistry of estuarine and shelf environments in eastern Arabian Sea.
Particularly I focused on benthic fluxes of oxygen, nitrous oxide and nutrients, benthic phosphorus cycling and pelagic nutrient cycles in Mandovi estuary and shelf region off Goa.This is the forst ever study of benthic biogeochemistry along eastern Arabian sea shelf.
I have also worked on anammox, pelagic nutrient cycle and benthic P cycling during docoral studies. I have participated in several coastal and open ocean cruises during this period.
In future i want to work on, coupling of Fe, S and P cycles, coupling of anammox, denitrification and DNRA in shallow tropical sediments. Also i want to study the coupling of benthic primary production and benthic fluxesand benthic nutrient cycling in Mangove systems. |
