| DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES AND BACKGROUND | |
My previous education has been a BS in biology (ecology & evolution) and a MS in biology (marine). I worked about 5 years as a marine biologist in Alaska, California and Hawaii and 2 years as a molecular biologist in Utah before returning to school to get my MS in biochemistry. My thesis in marine biology was on osmolytes in microalgae and my thesis in biochemistry was on site-directed mutagenesis (switching an amino acid of a protein by switching a codon in the gene) on a protein involved in fatty acid metabolism and metal homeostasis. I'm currently looking for a position that may combine my education or expand on what I've learned in the lab and in the field. It would be nice to be closer to my friends and family in Utah (or at least get a long vacation) so I'm looking forward to moving for my work.
