Limnology and Oceanography Bulletin
The Limnology and Oceanography Bulletin is published quarterly and contains up to 3 peer-reviewed Articles per issue, Letters to the Bulletin, and ASLO News (information for the ASLO membership).
For current and past issues of the L&O Bulletin, click here. Please note: Access to the most recent year of the L&O Bulletin is restricted to ASLO members and to those with an institutional subscription to the ASLO journals. Members will need to log in to view recent Bulletin issues.
Articles
Articles for the Bulletin are short, should be of broad interest to the entire ASLO membership (and outside readers as well), and may cover such diverse topics as: new directions or methods in aquatic science; new findings on, or interpretations of a major topic; or political and educational issues/approaches. In this respect, some may even be a bit controversial, but new ideas are seldom embraced without some controversy. Thus, these are not articles for Limnology and Oceanography dealing with specific research findings, but still must be scientifically (or, educationally, etc) sound as judged by the peer-review process. It is strongly recommended that you contact the Editors (bulletin-editor@aslo.org) to go over your ideas for an article so that it conforms with the Bulletin style and content.
Letters
Letters to the Bulletin should be either comments or responses to Articles, or pleas to the community about some aquatic science or political (e.g., funding for science) issue that you feel should be addressed.
ASLO News
ASLO News items consist of messages from ASLO officials, election information and results, policy analyses, member news, committee reports, and meeting announcements.
Bulletin Online
The Limnology and Oceanography Bulletin is published on the ASLO website in the members-only area as soon as it is typeset. The online issues are presented as Adobe PDF files, an electronic display and print format that reproduces the original appearance of a document.
